LOCAL WRESTLING ROUNDUP: Blue Jay wrestling splits in Bismarck

Jamestown High School boys wrestling split a pair of duals against Watford City and Bismarck High School Tuesday night in the Capital City.

The Blue Jays defeated the Wolves 78-3 during the first dual of evening, but fell to the top-ranked Demons 44-17. Jamestown is now 1-2 on the year.

Jamestown won five of the six matches against Watford City, while the Wolves forfeited the remaining matches. The Blue Jays won two of the first three matches against Bismarck, but five straight victories for the Demons became the difference.

Jamestown heads East today for the two-day Sertoma Dual Tournament at Grand Forks Central.

Jimmies drop dual to Warriors

University of Jamestown men's wrestling dropped its first dual of the season on the road Tuesday night to Midland University (Neb.) by a score of 28-22.

The Jimmies dropped five of the first six matches at the Wikert Event Center in Fremont, Neb., to fall behind 22-5 with three matches to go. 157-pound Carsen Paynter's technical fall on Tristian Snover was the only points scored by Jamestown during that stretch.

Jamestown scored the final three victories of the night, however, as Matthew Hernandez (184 pounds), Joshua Goeden (197) and Chumkar Dhaliwal (285) combined for 15 points.

The Jimmies will stay in Fremont for the Doane Open on Saturday.
