Jimmie volleyball falls at 14th-ranked Hastings

University of Jamestown volleyball couldn’t keep the momentum going after a five-set win against Doane University on Friday.

The Jimmies fell to 14th-ranked Hastings 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 11-25, 25-22) on the road Saturday, during the second of back-to-back games. Jamestown is now 16-5 on the year, while the Broncos improved to 12-5.

Hastings took an early 2-0 advantage but the Jimmies rebounded in the third frame. Jamestown used runs of 6-0, 6-1, 4-1 and 6-1 to score the 14-point victory. The Broncos closed out the match with a 25-22 fourth set.

Bismarck native Britta Knudson scored a team-high 13 kills, while Ellie Michaletz contributed 10. Mandan’s Miranda Lowman and LaMoure-Litchville-Marion’s Jackie Meiklejohn combined for 38 assists. Julina Niemeier led the way defensively with 31 digs.

UJ hosts eighth-ranked Dordt College (17-2) Tuesday night at Newman Arena.
