Optimist Club's weekly athletes
Meghan Ford, Jacob Anteau, Britta Knudson and Matt Young were named Jamestown Optimist Club athletes of the week.
Ford, a sophomore Jamestown High School cross country runner, ran a personal-best time of 17 minutes, 20 seconds at the Sahli-Salmi Invitational in Aberdeen, S.D., which gave her the fifth-best mark in the nation at the time. Anteau, a senior on the boys cross country team, also ran a personal-best time of 17:09 in Aberdeen.
Knutson, a junior from Bismarck on the University of Jamestown volleyball team, combined for 21 kills and 13 blocks during the Jimmies' victories over Dakota Wesleyan and Dickinson State. Young, a senior cross country runner from Woodland, Wash., placed second out of 75 runners at the MSU-Moorhead Dragon Twilight Meet in Moorhead, Minn.
