Senior Aaron Ford ran a 26-minute, 26-second 8,000 meters to help pace the University of Jamestown cross country team at the Jimmie Invite on a soggy Thursday afternoon at Parkhurst Recreation Area.

"Aaron was aggressive and ran in the top pack throughout the race," said Jamestown coach Jim Clark. "It was really nice see him have such a good race after nursing a sore knee for the past couple weeks."

Dustin Wagner finished in 22nd place (27:33.9) and Daniel Palmer was 30th (27:59.9). Overall the Jimmies placed fifth out of seven schools attending.

"Dustin continues to run well," Clark said of the sophomore from Jamestown. "He ran well at the Roy Griak Invitational last weekend and improved his best time significantly today."

Clark added about Palmer: "Daniel is getting better and today was his best race of the season and the best time of his career."

The Jimmies were missing top runner Matt Young for the third race this season because of an injury. The Woodland, Wash., native finished second at the Minnesota State University-Moorhead Twilight race on Sept. 7.

"We missed Matt Young again," Clark said. "He's recovering from an injury and looks to run in our next meet in two weeks at Yankton."

On the women's side, Jamestown finished fourth out of five teams. Allison Foster led the way with a ninth-place finish (19:45.4).

The Jimmies will head to Yankton, S.D., for the Mount Marty Invitational on Oct. 20.
