Letter to the editor: Could JPS get donations, sponsors for projects?
I congratulate the St. John's Academy community on their successful steps toward remodeling and enlarging their facility. By supplying a product obviously viewed favorably by their customers, they have engendered enough goodwill to be well on their way to funding a beautiful project which looks to greatly enhance student lives for generations to come.
I wonder -- could the Jamestown Public School system find a way to generate enough goodwill in the community that, say, a sports facility, an enhanced music program or some other extraordinary project would get built by happy sponsors and donors? The current method of begging enough voters to force higher property taxes on an increasingly disillusioned public doesn't seem to hold much promise.
